Alchemy and the transmutability of our lives
Update from Görvälns Castle June 02, 2011 08:58
We are nearly finished with the rooms in the castle. Here's a picture of the bedroom and all that is left to do is cover the headboard in new fabric and change the lamps.
And here is the outer room. The chairs are not quite finished but you get the idea... You can also see a sneaky peaky of the new Queen of Birds design for autumn/winter hanging on the wall there...
My Inspiration November 26, 2008 21:51
Van Asch is a lifestyle concept which fuses the eccentric and romantic into practical everyday things like jewellery and cushions. I create alot of the things found on my website as one offs and constantly seek new inspiration. I absorb all the visual stimuli I can get and then synthesize all that beautiful white noise into my art. One of the things/concepts that has inspired me hugely is alchemy. I love the fuzziness that exists around the understanding of alchemy, the friction between science and mysticism, the liberation of something born from the most intense discipline. These are fascinating juxtapositions, but the thing that stands out the most for me is the message of transmutability. We have the power to change things, to make our lives better, to realise our dreams.
The cushions and purses I make, using alchemical art works, serve as a reminder that we do infact, have that power. And who thought a casual glance towards your sofa could ignite your unconscious mind into positive action?
